The Real Estate market for the mid-point of 2011 shows a slow but steady climb for Durham Region according to the Toronto Real Estate Board MLS statistics.
Resale housing inventory is noticeably lower than last year at this time with over 1000 less homes on the market for Durham Region. That said, homes in Durham Region are in demand and the steady increase in asking prices is evidence of that fact.
The average listing price is up by over $35,000 for this month compared with June of last year, confirming that the buyers are clearly willing to step up when the right home comes along! This growth in prices will not go unnoticed by home owners thinking of making a move which will likely result in more homes being listed for sale.
Overall the total sales for the first half of the year in Durham Region are 10,497 properties which is a drop of 8% from the first 6 months of 2010. On the other hand, the number of homes that sold in June 2011 is up by over 250 sales from June of last year...an increase of over 13%.
